Sound & Story

Don’t ever tell your kids they can’t listen to all kinds of music because it’s secular, worldly, or what you call ‘The Devil’s Music.”

It’s one of the worst ways to indoctrinate a child.

A lot of Pentecostal, Baptist, and NonDenominational churches in particular – really have a narrow view on what MUSIC is. (Or even what a STORY is, based on what some determine as explicit content.) Religious and conservative people alike, tend to preach the most against this.

Music is one of the best ways to learn about who we are. Rhythm makes you dance, and that ain’t ever a bad thing.

Start identifying with a context of sound and stories, before you generalize all music as being wrong or somehow unhealthy. For the longest of time, I never knew what a lot of music sounded like because I was afraid that it wasn’t right. I wasn’t taught correctly, so I ended up incorrectly interpreting what sound is.

Don’t be misled by some misinterpretation of what Good music is supposed to sound like or feel. Listen to all kinds of sounds and vibrations, and engage with clarity. The music ends up catching up to you anyway.

That’s the goal. It’ll bring you together somehow.
