“I am” : u.r.i.s.o.p.c (statement piece)

*this was a poetic piece I created for IGF (Irreducible Grace Foundation) in collaboration with Ms. Jane and Dr. D : they both helped me to reach into that place within me – to convey sincerity and honesty through the power of breathing amidst the search of discovering who I am… this is the poetic piece I wrote out describing who I am. it has typically been difficult for me to name specifics of who I am but now, I am more assured in the discovery of ‘what’s in a name’ that I have no reason to be ashamed. blessings y’all! ❤ *

i am : Arican. who like most of us, were raised on colonized and stolen lands. (If not in location, in mind bands )

Shoutout to the AAPRP!

i come from : radical and religious sentiments! an environment which reinforced to me that my questions : were far too deep! that my interrogations of life’s contradictions were far too steep! The church, the Bible, and the Holy Ghost was our daily bread and butter, because if not in the name of Jesus – every other voice? could stutter!

Weigh The Minute! Typo Or Faith?

when you look at me : you see – brown skin, large buttons, and thick locks of hair – they’re not dreadlocks, that would imply they’re dreadful and they’re not. you will also see, your own confirmation biases, but ULTIMATELY what you see are scattered remnants of survival.

When I look in the mirror : I see a man attempting to advance a better world through struggle and the sharing of joy through creation and revolutionary politics. I see a window at odds with dialectical history // worlds interlocked unfolding, the deeper and reachable mystery.

Uniformy & RaNdOmLy : in Search of Paradise Clarity!

What you don’t see is : a man seeking to heal trauma that has flustered me. My ‘First & longest relationship was with someone who used the language of love but never matched practice with theory. I was 18, freshly graduated from high school : ready to move to another country to escape the command & rule.

I get stressed out : when I neglect to see what has been proven to be within me. when in stress, my will is often a mess out at every express, I soon begin to digress. All of these things and more can be the case, which is why instead i take a pause ______ and breathe, to make space.

I take care of myself by: breathing within and remembering the various tools i have for access. Just as sewing and writing pens are tools of connection : so is breathing. i like to breathe using the 4 for 4 method.

4 4 4

Take 4 seconds to INHALE (through your nose)
HOLD your inhale at the top for 4 seconds
Take 4 seconds to EXHALE (through your mouth)

*4 counts in between each breathe !*

when you take deep breath it activates the vagus nerve – sending a message to yo brain that you are calm..

we win when we breathe from within. There is no end, only the will to perpetually transcend! whether your at 0 or 10 – i recommend, you find that space and begin.

::: “i say this to you, so that you know that : ACCESS is from within, when placed in an uneasy or stressful situation, remember that you have the tools and can get to that place of healing and rest.”

i often use this tool when i am stressed about something i can’t easily each or obtain. this technique is often used in combat – to calm the fighter before and after a situation. May you find it useful in any stressful situation!

Luck & Pray

There’s never one way of praying because prayer is meditative.

Prayer is communication.

We’re all praying whether we give someone: Blessings! Good Vibes! & Best of luck!

Whenever you assure somebody that they got this! When you’re praying for someone – you’re sending out love or at the very least – The best of what can be for them.

Prayer is the hope that your situation can improve. It’s the vibration of a positive evolution to your current state of affairs – It’s a push of optimism without the guarantee that things will develop for the best but a prayerful insight reaches for compassion.

Praying for someone is putting someone in your hearts nest – holding them in your intention like a lover would secure their love in a protective intensity.

Prayer is the indication that some thoughts are reserved just for your benefit and comfort – and with this energy of positivity may every prayer see you through.

*I wrote this for my homie Mr. Ivory Snow – who put this on his latest album Snow. It’s a song about prayer. He produced all the music and finished the album in two weeks! Talk about inspiration!

What is Sin?

There’s a lot that’s been said about ‘Sin’. I heard so much about it growing up. Haven’t we all? Sin has the reputation for being that thing that disappoints g-d. Transgression. When you bypass the law in favor of responding to the lusts of your flesh. With this song, I wanted to challenge the typical core beliefs surrounding sin. What makes some things sinful while other things are just tradition?

So much of sin is made up of the things we consider taboo.  A lot of people are afraid of doing what they wanna do because of the punitive punishment that has been attached to their desires. This is most common if you were raised in a strict religious and or dogmatic environment.  I came up with the idea for this song after writing about sin and the power it had on my life for so while as a Christian. I was always curious about sin and the nature of its influence in my life.

This was a teaching moment to me upon my awareness of growth and desire and hopefully, you may find this useful in navigating your life. If you listen at the end of this song, Stanley Wrinkles comes in to deliver an important message. Who is this, Stanley Wrinkles some might ask?

Stanley Wrinkles is a character I came up with back in 2005 not long after Hurricane Katrina took my family to Texas. He’s a preacher that is passionate about Jesus and sharing the message of the truth. Whether prayer, preaching or talking – he’s always passionately sharing in some way or another.

AND NOW THERE’S DESSERT #1!

My Homie Jeremy Garner was the mastermind behind the production of this track! I remember when he first sent this to me and how amazed I was how fast it came together. The rock metal edge really gives this song a kick and really just stands in your face and sends bones down your spine.

Take a listen and please do enjoy and share with me what you think?

Hallow Rush

Holy is the night – as the darkness invites all of those who play in sight. The scare of the light is embraced by the thrill of the night. We’re all responsible for the treat, but the master of personal experience is the ultimate trick. Should you? OR Shouldn’t you?

Was it Wrong or right? The ‘evil’ somehow is still followed by good. Could we live in perfect nirvana? Even if we could, how long would it take for someone to raise hell?

It didn’t take Lucifer that long to demand equal rights. Sure, he wanted to imitate but isn’t that the highest form of flattery? Lucifer was an angel, the most decorated angel. But Lucifer was not satisfied with God’s treatment of the angels because God created angels as His slaves (Strange but true). They had no other will but to serve him so maybe his robots?

Eh, you catch my drift.

While humans were given free will. Lucifer wanted this same thing among the angels, to which God didn’t agree. As a result, Lucifer launched a rebellion against God with other angels he persuaded (this means Lucifer had free-will, btw)

Seems to me, Lucifer did not do anything that would be evil by today’s standards. I read the bible enough to see this. 😀

Has he killed people? Nah. Has he destroyed someone else’s life? Nah. Has he tried to be an intruder on something that humans were doing, just out of sheer curiosity? Nah.

(Well technically, God made a deal with the devil to see how long Job could endure a shitty experience.)

Lucifer was just an angel with wit and intelligence. He didn’t kill anybody, nor he did anything immoral by today’s standards. Still, Lucifer is considered “Evil” because he launched a rebellion against God demanding equality of just free-will.

Ah, the philosophy of Free Will!

At any rate, boogie on down with no fear of monsters grooving with you too. It’s all Dichotomy. Some would say darkness opposes light and that monsters and angels aren’t the best of friends.

I think everything has an intricate relationship. It’s all connected. You can’t remove the taboo completely, it adds context to the story. If there wasn’t a thrill of climax, no one would be coming.

Would you really watch a movie if there was no climax? There’s got to be a rush. A Holy Rush!

Halloween is finally here – the treat and the trick. Which one is which?

What’s It ALL For?

Wanna sing but have no inspiration? Wanna dance but afraid of the crowds? Wanna be a star but trapped in the nucleus of a black hole? Can’t manage to be happy but rather sad at the lack of currency? Wanna exchange lives but have no soul? Wanna fly but have no wings for flight?

The answer is found in the journey of nothingness. There ain’t nothing that can be said about the ‘something’ you ain’t do. There ain’t no sound or voice for the victim of the blame. There is only the charade of guilty bells which ring on Sunday’s morning condemnation sermon.

Messages like:

“GET RIGHT OR GET LEFT! YOU HAVE NO TIME. WHAT ARE YOU WAITING FOR?

Truth be told, there’s ain’t no expected time for your growth or healing.

A pill of circumstance only wishes to be blessed. There ain’t no curse more lethal than not accepting one for who they are. This is where religion or ‘overt spirituality’ or politics or anything other than love gets in the way. Anytime there is a barrier or line drawn – the point is missed.

LOVE IS THE ONLY LAW.

You can’t control someone’s choices. The moment you feel compelled ‘To warn someone of their wickedness..” you presume you know what’s good and likely the ‘good’ things are found in the word you desperately have hidden in your heart – so that you won’t sin against the G-d of YOUR choice. You have every right to believe and act according to your belief. Belief is one thing, sharing it to the point of extreme evangelism is another.

People who talk to G-d are usually cool with me. But the people who G-d talks to? Sheeeiit. Did you hear g-d or was that just you? Could it all be just what you want to believe? I’m not against positive thinking, it’s helpful. I’m just saying, g-d telling you to do this, go there, say this, preach this – makes me wonder who’s agenda is really being upheld? We all know humans do a very good job at speaking for the divine. Humans claim to be instruments in which the divine flows through.

This is one of our purposes in life. To partake in a journey to reach places as our evolution leaps into the next door.

If you can’t see the journey as a stepping stone than what is it? A waste of time? An empty hall where you were forced to go through with no promise at the end? Didn’t you have fun or was it just to make you depressed afterward? What was it all for if you can’t smile and cry with the pages of your history?

For it was written and it can’t be erased by the present pen. The walls are finished and the stage is set. You must perform even when nervous, eat while you are sleeping. This is how you learn and grow from the visions set before you.

Dreams await you where a love can be seen again for what they are worth. What’s it all for? A record to be known and seen for what it means for your abilities to see with intent. It’s all for love but love ain’t always easy. Love is about the thrill of knowing what it is to want to have without.

JESTER’S GUMBO! INCLUDING: ANTS, PENNIES, + OTHER RANDOM ROOTS!

It’s been a long time since I made a Gumbo video, but this time around I had a few more ingredients to deliver. Follow the suspense, and remember THE SMILE in the midst of all Improvised Frequency – Follow the lead, and you know, LISTEN.

Sound & Story

Don’t ever tell your kids they can’t listen to all kinds of music because it’s secular, worldly, or what you call ‘The Devil’s Music.”

It’s one of the worst ways to indoctrinate a child.

A lot of Pentecostal, Baptist, and NonDenominational churches in particular – really have a narrow view on what MUSIC is. (Or even what a STORY is, based on what some determine as explicit content.) Religious and conservative people alike, tend to preach the most against this.

Music is one of the best ways to learn about who we are. Rhythm makes you dance, and that ain’t ever a bad thing.

Start identifying with a context of sound and stories, before you generalize all music as being wrong or somehow unhealthy. For the longest of time, I never knew what a lot of music sounded like because I was afraid that it wasn’t right. I wasn’t taught correctly, so I ended up incorrectly interpreting what sound is.

Don’t be misled by some misinterpretation of what Good music is supposed to sound like or feel. Listen to all kinds of sounds and vibrations, and engage with clarity. The music ends up catching up to you anyway.

That’s the goal. It’ll bring you together somehow.

Afforded Joy

I just finished “Jesus Among Other Gods” and I want to give you a taste of this food I have been reading: here are 7 quotes (One from each chapter) where it took me into a new motion of thought.

THESE ARE IN NO PARTICULAR ORDER OF REFERENCE….REMEMBER..THIS IS JUST A TASTE..LOL

#1 “Truth cannot be all-inclusive, Truth by definition excludes.”

#2 “In our human imagination, we so often perceive our heroes to be something larger than life. We exalt them in ways that do them a disservice. We make them to be almost plastic in our imaginations. And when they bleed or grow old or stumble, we either case them aside or find some way to perpetuate the myth. To Sustain this illusion in our minds. We build statues and erect monuments, and artists paint them with halo’s to establish their surreal personae. We convince ourselves that they are or were something essentially different from the rest of us.”

#3 ” One of the most startling things about life is that it does start with reason and end with faith. It starts in childhood with faith and is sustained either by reasoning through that faith or by blindly leaving the reason for faith unaddressed. The child’s mind has a very limited capacity to inform it of the reason for its trust, But whether she nestles on her mother;s shoulder, nurses at her mother;s breast, or runs into her father’s arms, she does so because of an implicit trust that those shoulders will bear her, that her food will sustain her, and that those arms will hold her. If over time that trust is tested, it will be the character of the parent that will either prove that trust wise or foolish. Faith is not the bereft of reason.

#4 ” Naturalism by its purpose engineers the displacement of the miracle and puts in its place explanations that defy reason.”

#5 “Who wants logic when the heart is broken?” At such a time we are looking for comfort, we want a painkiller”

#6 “Contradiction itself ought to be self-indicating. When it’s not, either truth or truthfulness has died”

#7 “You do not form a conclusion on the presence of a gardener by studying only one bush, there is much more.

Summarized Notion For Thought: The Sharpest Vibration seeks to place me into obliteration. But the intelligence of my faith will rise and stand above this resistance. I have authority and understanding. I am MORE than a conqueror!
