BUTTONS CONNECT!

IMG_4764

i’ve said it before and many have seen it before – but BUTTONS CONNECT! the future *may* be wireless but buttons are right now. buttons, wires, cords, switches, are all physical knobs we could use right now. my curriculum as of late has been stitching, sewing, and cutting various threads.

WHAT IS BUTTONS CONNECT?

well think about it. buttons do connect. if an articel of clothing is divided by space – it’s secured safely by connecting the button. it’s a simple mechanism that has changed the game in terms of functionality and aesthetic appeal.

I formed the idea behind ‘buttons connect‘ as I realized the therapeutic value it created for me. I saw a story behind the button instead of just seeing it as an accessory. buttons are probably the easiest way to add color to an outfit without being too flashy or extravagant. there’s a story behind everything and buttons happen to be about the most reasonable of all functions – CONNECTION.

buttons are so common that you probably don’t know anyone who has NOT worn any article of clothing without them. they are THAT functional and plentiful. the button would be nothing however without the thread which holds it down. this string provides enough girth and strength to keep the button fastened to the surface.

looking like here is not where it use to be

in the same manner, the thread is nothing without a medium – this is where the needle makes its introduction. the thread is then carefully inserted into the needle hole and then fastened at the end, which creates a knot. these things must come together, this is likened to a seed. there is a need for fertile ground, an energy source, and then water to flourish a flower. in order for a button to connect:

you need only a button, thread, and a fertile (stable) surface in order for the needle to go through to stabilize the connection.

buttons connect is a movement where I am bridging the gap between use and misuse. remixing by adding and subtracting. changing. this is a new movement where there’s an emerging statement. my feet are arrows because it aligns with the idea of me going all over the place. the green arrows keep going and flowing!

buttons connect attempts to listen to what our hearts say and channeling that information into our creations so that we connect with one another and free ourselves from the mental baggage that we have been laced with since birth. buttons connect is connecting those encoded symbols in a way that frees our minds and hearts from the illusion of the false fabric of reality so that we can begin to sew and weave our own realities in a way that connects each of us with one another in creative ways.

you can start with something simple – then transform it and recycle it from what it was into something that you want it to be. turn less expensive things into fashion statements and weave them into your new fabric of reality. buttons are a great symbol of taking something which we all have access to, and recycling it into something new based on the moment and occasion.

(rift your thrift!)

this is all creating more instead of consuming! we have to connect and work with one another to build new patterns into the framework of reality after untying and unravelling the influences of the previous world of illusions which is keeps us tied down into a system (*stares in capitalism*) that has never been in our best interest. here is to reconnecting to our hearts to become our own weavers of our own realities!

connect with me by sharing the ways you’ve seen parallels between what is spoken and what is not. the thread is not as alien as it may look. it’s a small world but a larger one when you can remove the veil and understand what was there all along.

MIGHT // ABLE

The following script is in connection to a series of conversations entitled ‘Riddle Me That…’ which is due to release at the beginning of 2019.

Maybean: Hey Fo’sho!!! I was thinking about bringing to light an idea that has been stalking me in the back of my mind.

Fo’sho: Really Maybean? Why don’t you bring it into light, that way you can see if it’s a good idea or not?

Maybean: Perhaps I will. It would be nice to see what was done in the dark manifested in the light.

Fo’sho: Let’s do it. I’ll get started on the preparation.

Maybean: Well, I’m not ready yet, I’m still working on the basic idea.

Fo’sho: Let me know when you are ready, I can help you with the basic layout. If you don’t mind.

Maybean: That would be cool. I’ll try to remember when I get all the ideas in a clear format.

Fo’sho: You sound hesitant against my help.

Maybean: Well perhaps, I’m just not totally clear about what I want to do, yet.

Fo’sho: I’m capable of following out the plan for you?

Maybean: But the plan is still haunting me. It’s like that word that is on the tip of your tongue, that you can’t fully pronounce. Like seeing the picture in your head but being unable to illustrate all the fine details.

Fo’sho: You rarely if ever get the details fully flushed out. I can help with that if you are willing to receive my help. I need more than your willingness. I want you to sign my name so that I can show up on time.

Maybean: However, I am not totally sure if this idea is as fluid as you see it. If I work this idea with you, it won’t just be my idea but ours. You might add to it somethings I don’t want to be in it.

Fo’sho: How would you even know, if you haven’t even got the basic idea out?

Maybean: I suppose you are right.

Fo’sho: I volunteered to help you bring it out of the midnight corners of your mind. Whatever is out there in the dark may be bulky and less specific– you may be unable to do it on your own. We can collaborate on this together, if you want.

Maybean: I suppose, I don’t know? The way I measured the idea in my mind was just a scent and shade of something that had the potential to be bigger. It is not capable of letting me go. (*I don’t believe the idea will be given to someone else*.) I don’t have to say it over and over for me to remember it. It only takes once, and I’ll go back to it until when I can fully build on it. Perhaps, you can help me bring it out, a little later? Once I pull it beyond the shadows?

Fo’sho: Understood. By the way,

remember that script I told you, I was working on?

Maybean: I think I know which one you’re talking about.

Fo’sho: Well whether you think you know or have simply forgotten, that script is already done. I’m waiting for it to be edited so I can submit it to my publisher.

Maybean: The reason why I say, I THINK is because you never clarified which script you were talking about. You had several scripts you were working on. I wasn’t sure.

Fo’sho: My bad, I’m talking about the script about the drug planted by the government and addictive prostitutes entwined to it.

Maybean: I don’t recall that script? It matters none! Cheers! I’m glad you finished it.

Fo’sho: Yep, I been working on it for months, but I remained disciplined and I finished it before the due date.

Maybean: That’s remarkable!

Fo’sho: Have you ever thought about abiding by a specific guideline to help you bring out your ideas to light? It could help with your productivity. It helped with mine!

Maybean: Nah, I haven’t thought much about that.

Fo’sho: Well wouldn’t you want to try it now that you see it may work for your benefit?

Maybean: I May do that. I mean, you don’t see me suggesting to you my method of flushing out ideas not because you can’t do it but because it never occurred to me that you might find it interesting.

Fo’sho: My method seems more productive, but then again, I haven’t tried yours.

Maybean: And neither have I tried yours.

Fo’sho: I guess we both got work to do. Or we can continue blind? I suppose it doesn’t make much of a difference, if we arrive to the same lines of action.

Maybean: Our lines may be similar – they don’t got to be the same – you do your thing and I’ll do mine!

Asleep // Alarm

*The following script, is in connection to a series of conversations entitled ‘Riddle Me That…” which is due for release at the beginning of 2019.

Jagrati: WAKE UP!

Gramercy: Wait, for what? It’s only 7:00! I got a couple more zzz’s.

Jagrati: There’s a lot to do! Best start early – if you get up now, you won’t have to regret it later! Now Get up! The clock is ticking!

Gramercy: That’s just the thing tho. I didn’t set this alarm and my sleep time is set differently. I don’t respond by such algorithms and determinations. My body is still snuggled between the sheets and my brain is powered in a REM state, so I’ll keep on
resting.

Jagrati: How long shall you snooze me to your heart’s content? Will you ever be ready to face the sound or only when you decide to designate time?

Gramercy: *Clicks to snooze button*

Jagrati: *fades into slowly while progressively getting louDER!!!* Wake up! I’m the reminder of the time! I don’t aim to be embraced- just acknowledged.

Gramercy: Alright, now is the time. I’m ready but first I must get dressed for the day.

Jagrati: Therefore, you should set me early, so you have all proper time to get all your essentials done and out of the way with! By the time you finish eating your breakfast, beating your meat, and checking your phone – about an hour and a half has already passed! You only get so much time to handle your business. Start by following a specific pattern and be a disciple of this set discipline. You won’t regret it!

Gramercy: Then I’ll be like a robot always doing the same shit repeatedly.

Jagrati: Your entire species is built on the same ridiculous concept of existence. IT IS WHAT IT IS.

Gramercy: What about sleep? Don’t I deserve sleep?

Jagrati: Yes but no more than others do. You sleep too much which may be an indication of depression which is a very serious medical condition. You may not be depressed. You may just enjoy it very much because you dream every night. If the dream is more convincing than waking life – you are likely depressed.

Gramercy: So, because I love going to sleep and not waking up to you – I’m clinically depressed?

Jagrati: I said you may be depressed – I’m not saying you are. Seeing as you wake up late and snooze alarms whenever you see fit. I don’t see why you even bother to wake up whenever and ditch the idea of putting me on in the first place?

Gramercy: You’re right. I should just sleep and wake up whenever I feel like it. I don’t suppose setting the time makes a slight difference if I’m going to do what I want to do. *laughs inwardly*

Jagrati: Exactly, although you do realize that humans must have some sort of structure and order to their day otherwise everybody will be late. Which is why setting me up and abiding by my rule is better for everyone involved. After all, don’t you have something to do?

Gramercy: We all have something to do, I’m just not necessarily punctual about getting work done at a specific time. I have just accepted that I’m later to most things lol

Jagrati: You can simply blame it on the ailments of life, a schedule glitch, or the dreams that make you wanna sleep forever, it matters none. I’m here to help you get back on pace.

Gramercy: I’ll stay on sleeping, I’m tired of waking up all the time. Do you realize how paralyzing existence can be? All the bullshit and bills. It never stops and even if I wake up early to get my day started according to the system – the bullshit and bills will be waiting for me with open arms! I ain’t got the time for the dialogue. My sleep is my monologue and I refuse to be bothered by the semantics of the daily grind. I’m gonna keep on sleeping until forced to arrive at the conclusion- life is more than this.

Jagrati: The average human being sleeps about 1/3 of their life. Essentially 26 years of your life is spent sleeping…then you die. There’s no coming back when you clock out. So much to do, don’t you want to engage the various levels of the day?

Gramacy: *snores, zzzz, zzz*

Jagrati: I won’t ever shut up despite your snores!!!

*Fades while simultaneously snoring and alarm beeps*

Gramacy: !!Oh Shit, it’s 5:00 o’Clock!!!

The Uniformed and Random!

Yesterday, I made a quarter. 25. (2+5=7) // Which is the number that has been a prominent one in my life. There’s a wealth of relation and research done for the number seven and how it connects to an array of different elements of life, death, dreams, and nightmares. Simply put, Seven for me – is a definition for a recurring reason. Seven is an algorithm of reaching the most out of the creative expansion.

Time follows us everywhere we go. We can’t escape it as it follows our direction and counts our steps. You would think all of us understand numbers because of their universal relation. However, we relate to numbers differently. They don’t always quantify what we qualify in the measures of calculation.

The dichotomy here in The Uniformed and The Random is that one is scattered and all over the place while the other follows the flow of character. My artistic statement about this is one of unity.

In the days leading up to my birthday – I noticed some changes. I started to think about what that number (25) meant and how others will perceive what I am doing in life. The expectations I must set for myself and the plan to get to my objectives matter to me. Most importantly, they will matter to other people.

4 The World

I get this a lot. People wanna know // How do you do that? How do you get to go there or get that? We know money is a like a candle in a dark room. Money is like a flame. While it burns the room giving it illumination and direction – It can also burn the same room and house with it. You need it but too much of it has the potential to destroy and rebuke progress. It has the power to consume to the core. YET – a dollar always spends and with enough digits, you can get work done.  The work is unique to everyone in this world.

I believe we all need access to proper tools to help us live a life. Not everyone is capable of working and that’s OK. You shouldn’t have to work to survive anyway, but eh – Capitalism.  However, we are all capable of sharing with the world our ‘Thing’ whatever that thing is. Getting to the nerve of it – can make one a bit crazy. It’s never easy when one is committed to making a change in the element of their thrill. I love to write, but so does many other people in the world. Some authors become best-sellers,  while others have a plethora of books most of the world has not even heard of or have access to.

The key to this is to find clarity as the days continue on. I think we all start off Random and as the days go on we are Uniformed. Random is when the elements are the same only scattered. Eyes are extended on my left arm. Head extended on my right arm. Eyeballs are now my hands. Properties are in places that are deranged. Elements of life are all over the place but in line with the true character of each element – just in different and random places.

Keep doing the work tho, whether you feel Random or Uniformed. Even if you are all over the place, people still get you if you come with a clear intention. What I’ve also noticed – and what may very well be a Life Hack:

People tend to notice things they are looking for and once they don’t find it (or do), ignore everything else.

So if you want to slip something past someone, a lie (I don’t recommend it), or something that ain’t yours, make sure they catch you on something that doesn’t matter, and they won’t even notice what is it that you were really hiding. You’ll notice it and if you got anxiety, you’ll reveal your own trick.

Whether Random or Uniformed – Like an embryo that grows, slowly through time – formation is created. Limb by limb what’s sticky eventually sticks.

Pain Heartbreak Then You Read

photo-feb-06-11-48-15-pm

I have read many books and have looked at too much recent history, to think this country was ever really great. // The origin of this country is really nationalistic for barbaric reasons. Slavery, Genocide, and capitalism. These things have been so normal to me – sometimes I have to remind myself I am actually living in a place TAKEN from Native Americans. Slaves (some are actually in my bloodlines) worked day in and day out and DID not get paid for their labor. We were instead raped, isolated, cut off from our families, and indoctrinated to believe “slaves were to obey their masters”. We were not actually considered human beings under law. While these things seem so long ago they aren’t and we are still living through the trauma of these atrocities. So no. I can’t think this country is great when the numbers speak for themselves. Reading the story connects the reality why my face curves when people talk about THIS GREAT COUNTRY. 😀

TRANSCENDENCE IN A PAISLEY ZONE

My experiences at Paisley Park have been a remarkable lesson in my growth and understanding of freedom! You are free to roam with sound and you never know just where it might take you!

Music acknowledges the very frame of your existence. From the amazing Sound coming from the speakers during a DJ Set, or when you hear the live music played present within a few meters. The truth is when sound can enter your body and you are covered with this music lotion of harmony and passion – it takes some time to get all settled in your pores.

Music like lightning strikes, and then there is the sound.

Sometimes, you see flashes of a particular event and you smile in silence because you remember just where and how you were changed in that exact moment!

IF EYE COULD GET UR ATTENTION was the first song Prince played when he went into his Solo Piano Set this last Saturday.

He’s got all of us, in complete attention in the direction he is leading. He’s gearing up for his Solo Piano and a Microphone Tour set in Europe later this month. It was very intimate and special to witness him just with a piano and a microphone. That’s all you need really. Prince is simply music. Whenever he is able to enter that zone, there is then transcendence.

An intimate moment, wherein emotion covers you. You feel the hairs on your skin start to rise. Some people cry, some can’t help but close their eyes and allow the music to undress memories. What is guaranteed is the moment you surrendered and allowed your vulnerabilities to show – it was connected to that special musical moment!

This continued throughout  Friday and Saturday night, where Prince surprised us with several rare and lesser-known songs. Including – Love Or $ taken from 1986 in the Under The Moon, When Will Be Paid, and an instrumental medley of ‘With You’ from his second studio album.

The surprises kept coming! Now, he could have stayed on the piano throughout the whole show, that would have been fine. BUT the last song Stratus just gave us the conviction needed that displayed just how incredible the music is at that place. Prince is an enterprise of sound, and the musicians around him are bringing out and adding to this sound landscape he has.

AND AFTER ALL OF THAT, he took us out to see 007 at a local theater. Now, I saw brief pieces of it before I knocked out, but I’ve been in the zone, all thanks to the moment of transcendence which happens quite frequently there! 🙂
