Last night was an energy parade. Energy beyond the ability sit down. Everything happened at such rapid and intense pace, my sensations are still processing. A magical night filled with illuminating depth. A number of surprises that preceded the event are way too ‘Willy Wonka’ Inspired to explain. 😀
A night filled with unexpected jams and smiles that lite up the room. It was the first time Prince performed in New Zealand and the 3rd time I’ve seen him outside of Paisley Park. The first time being at SXSW in Austin TX (My First Prince Show) // Second time in New Orleans – 3rd time in New Zealand.
The power of just Prince, with a piano and microphone, is literally an experience you would have to witness to truly get. Every crowd is different because each is equipped with different levels of vibration. Here in Auckland, the crowd was composed of intensity and rising anticipation which was met, with a satisfying delivery of funk.
Each snap of his finger was in a complete time of note and rhythm. He seemed to get a joy out of the reaction from the crowd as we were baptized with each pressing moment. It almost felt like the crowd in New Zealand couldn’t contain their thrill. There wasn’t a lot of room for slow ballads or anything too sentimental, as we were engaged in our conviction of energy.
With a career spanning over three decades, a plethora of songs was acknowledged with respect to space, which allowed smooth improvisation. The crowd moved accordingly with each swaying tune. From: I Wanna Be Your Lover, Strange Relationship, Purple Music, Noon Rendezvous, How Come U Don’t Call Me Anymore, Condition Of The Heart, Raspberry Beret, Adore, The Ladder…Among many others)
(&HearingNoonRendezvousForTheFirstTimeWasJustAsIntoxicatingAsYouMightThink!) 🙂 🙂
By the time, he entered into Kiss – everyone was standing UP in unison singing with joy and refreshing flexibility. Prince couldn’t sit down either, as we charged him with just as much power he gave us. The exchange leaped from Spirit to Spirit. The house was packed, and from person to person above and below, astonishment rested on every heart present.
The piano provides so much space for warmth and depth, making it an incredible experience for what comes next. It’s pure Transcendence of what is and what ain’t.

The Set-list proved if anything, Prince has a song for every emotion. So many tunnels and avenues of emotion, that are explored through his discography. The arrangements of these songs on the piano are new and refreshing each time.
His expressions are something unforgettable and life-changing, you can’t help but smile and dance in gratitude that he’s still here doing what he loves best. And we love it too! He encouraged us to free ourselves, and to love ourselves because there’s so much work to do!
Special Shout out to Jeremy and Emily, who was with me every step of the journey. We can only think of the miraculous manifestations of the night. It was their first time seeing him since 2012 for the ‘Welcome to Australia’ shows. So, for them to suspend in such ways was beautiful to witness.

For a lot of people in the Theater, it was their first time seeing him, and so their reactions pantomimed nothing short of jubilation.
And with that….
“Love Urself so we can love U 2! We need Ur help, there’s so much work to do.”
