I helped my Grandfather move in today! That was fun but sad at the same time! You see my Pops has been living in New Orleans pretty much all his life, and moving here at 87 years old is going to be an interesting adventure for him.
To avoid a story that can go on and on, Just watch this:
While unpacking, I could not help but look at some of the items he brought with him. Not considering all of the hats I noticed, (Which I hope to have one of his soon) I noticed his leaf blower! My grandfather is so familiar with cutting his own grass, trimming his own lawn, and blowing the excess weeds and trimmings he forgot that his new Apartment Complex does all the work for him. When my mom asked him about it, he seemed to forget those days are over. There was a sense of loss that catered to his expression and I can’t help but feel that now. Texas, for me, has always been like eating a bowl of soup with a fork. Let’s just say New Orleans is a city of Utensil making, and spoons are the least of those creations unless of course, you are eating a bowl of Gumbo.
I can’t help but miss those days, where he and I would work. WORKING is all my Grandfather has ever known! Working for my grandfather meant sweating and eating a proper Breakfast, Lunch, and Dinner. Stories which my mind ponders in extreme jubilation! He stayed in New Orleans even after Hurricane Katrina, and it wasn’t until his brother passed away until he made the decision to move out to Texas with us. It’s strange because New Orleans would never be the same without him.
A Puzzle, within a Haze, I wrote about it earlier this year, when I heard the news about my Pops selling the house. I’m not sure how it exactly relates to my Grandfather but there is emotion belonging to the pieces even if they are hazy.
Don’t puzzle the haze, and continually more calmly, swallow the craze.
Interpretations, the scriptures unfold.
Wrapping you consciously – They Mold.
Thoughts of limitless bound, heights that are taken from the ground.
Measures and pieces within me are within you – Blindly to sound.
They’re checking you out, with fashionable ambition.
They deny: if you will complete the mission.
Hold it closely, and never pardon the gift entrusted.
Build up within it – for your blessing should never be mistrusted.
Grant it, the fire to burn and consume every alienated principle of right.
Remember the fire is the light which by the screams of bright – are visions which began in the night!
